Shana (Sha-Sha) Michelle Watley, 40 years old, passed away Wednesday March 26, 2014.
She joined her Lord and Savior as well as her grandfather, Thomas Phillips Sr. and Uncle Bubba, Thomas "Pete" Phillips, Jr. and other close aunts and uncles.
Once diagnosed with Breast Cancer three years ago Shana never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God where she maintained her faith as a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and Hillcrest Baptist Church, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through many months of treatment. Yet, even throughout her own struggle with Cancer, she reached out to others affected by this disease in many ways. Shana was a graduate of Pine Forest High School, class of 1991, where she played softball and was a cheerleader. She went on to obtain a degree from the University of West Florida and became a laboratory technician at Sacred Heart Hospital where she then became a member of the "laboratory family". She was also a member of the Hip Huggers Mardi Gras Crew and a member of the Zumba Girls of Sacred Heart. She was an avid fan of Florida State Seminole football. She was filled with love and compassion throughout her life, her brilliant and infectious smile touched many hearts and souls.
Sha-Sha is survived by her daughter, Hensley Watley; mother, Brigg Broxson; father, Bill Watley (Mary Watley); grandmothers, Mollie Phillips and Edna Watley; aunt, Jonte Silcox (Travis Silcox); cousins, Nikki Silcox and Kaylan Walden (Ashley Walden); and great cousins, Braxton and Colton Walden and Delaney Smith; as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
Shana's life will be celebrated Saturday Morning at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, visitation will be at 9:00 am with services to follow at 10:00 am.
Her family would like to thank the friends, including the Pine Forest Cheerleaders and Hip Huggers for their round the clock vigil and care throughout her treatment.
