Doris S. Croskey

Doris LaRue Croskey of Longbarn Road, State College, passed on after a short illness on March 26, 2014. She was a graduate of Bellefonte High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked in Richmond, VA, Stamford, CT, Washington, DC, and at Penn State. She is survived by her husband Charles, her sister Karen Maters, of Liberty, SC, and her step-brother Steve Foster, of State College. She was preceded in death by her parents Odd and Doris Skawden, of Bellefonte, PA, and by her step-mother Lillian Foster Skawden, of State College and her sister-in-law, Linda Foster, of State College. She is survived by three nieces, Susan McMillan of Liberty, SC, Cathy Gwilliam, of Plantation Key, FL, and Julie Foster, of Austin, TX.  She is also survived by a nephew, John Maters, of Taylors, SC.

Doris loved her church, First Church of Christ, Scientist, State College. She was a garden designer at heart and spent many summer days working in her own garden, starting with an early morning review with tea cup in hand. She also had a great love of all animals, large and small. Through the years she provided love to and was loved by many orphan cats. We all will miss her quick wit and special smile.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to either First Church of Christ, Scientist, 617 E. Hamilton Ave., State College, 16801, or Alley Cat Rescue, P.O. Box 585, Mt. Rainier, MD 20712.

Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. Online condolences and signing of the guest book may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com.
