Marion C. Manternach, 86, of 414 6th Ave NW, Cascade, Iowa, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at 2:40 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.

Friends and relatives of Marion may call from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at 4:00 p.m.

Services for Marion will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, IA.

Marion was born April 1, 1927 in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of John P. and Mayme (Kurt) Leibold. She received her education in the former St. Mary’s School in Cascade, Iowa. On May 25, 1948 she was united in marriage to Frederick Manternach.

She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, IA, and the Cascade Catholic Daughters of the Americas-Our Blessed Mother Court #1926. Marion enjoyed playing cards, she especially enjoyed playing bridge. She liked to read, garden, go bowling and feeding the birds. She was a very devoted mother, raising her seven children after Frederick passed away.  

She is survived by seven children, Mike (Michelle) Manternach of Blue Grass, IA; Mark Manternach of Cascade, IA, Steve (Kathy Solko) Manternach and Connie (Bruce) Page both of Nevada, IA, Brent (Ruth) Manternach of Worthington, IA, Karla Manternach (& partner, Curtis Bloes) of Sac City, IA, Leslie Manternach of Dubuque, IA; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Louie (Betty) Leibold of Cascade, IA, James “Bouncer” Leibold of Clear Water, KS, Leona (Bob) Buckley of El Cajon, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick Manternach on August 23, 1967; a daughter-in-law, Hannah Manternach; a son-in-law, Charles Baker; one sister, Grace Hageman; one brother, Vince Leibold; three sisters-in-law, Maggie Leibold, Lila Leibold and Rose Manternach; four brothers-in-law, Norbert, Clem, Joe and Arnold Manternach.
