Alvester King, son of the late Ollie King and Callie Womack King, was born March 30, 1938 and departed this life on March 14, 2014 at his residence.
Alvester, “Bro,” as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Lunenburg County Public Schools. At an early age, he was baptized and joined Flat Rock Baptist Church, Kenbridge, Virginia, where he remained a member until his death.
Alvester leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Alvin Sylvester King of Atlantic City, NJ and Gary King of South Hill, VA; one granddaughter, Aminah Callie King of Las Vegas, NV; one brother, James (Annette) King of South Hill, VA; four sisters, Dorothy (Luther) Wilson and Bernice Walker of South Hill, VA, Ethel (Gene) Hamilton of Orange, NJ and Catherine Rhone of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
“Bro” was a hard worker and will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment with the Rev. Herman Lundy, officiating.
Services were entrusted to the staff of the Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment, South Hill, VA.
