Gene Dulin of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday night at the Ben Hur Home, having just turned 91 on Thursday.
Mr. Dulin was a long-time member of Woodland Heights Christian Church. He was a 1941 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served two years in Alaska and two years in Washington, honorably discharged at the close of World War II in 1945. He then went to work at R.R. Donnelley, spending 39 ½ years there, retiring in 1985. After that, he kept busy working in his garage and home shop, building and repairing things to help his neighbors, friends and church.
Born March 20, 1923 in Whitestown, he was the son of Homer Dulin and Nellie Kern Dulin. He married Myrtle Alice Bowling February 13, 1944 in Bremerton, Washington.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Myrtle Dulin, his son, David (Shandol) Dulin of Crawfordsville, daughter, Diana Livengood of Hillsboro, two brothers, Basil Dulin and Richard Dulin, grandson, Alex Livengood and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Dulin, an infant granddaughter and four sisters, Sandy, Oveta, Aline and Vernice.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Wednesday with Rev. Steve Wilke officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North in Crawfordsville.
