Thomas S. Kourbelas, 89, of Green River, Wyoming passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Castle Rock Convalescent Center in Green River, Wyoming.
He was born on April 23, 1924 in Green River, the son of Steve and Grace Kourbelas, immigrants from Greece.
Mr. Kourbelas attended schools in Green River and graduated from the Lincoln High School.
He also attended the University of Utah.
He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He service in both the European and Korean Conflicts.
Mr. Kourbelas was the owner and operator of the Green Gander Bar until his retirement.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Master Mason in Shriners International, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2351 and B.P.O. Elks Lodge.
His interests included spending time at his summer cabin and his pets.
Survivors include his family: Jerry Birch, Derral and Dalene Smith, Kimberly Smith and Kevin Smith; one brother Nick Kourbelas; two nephews Reed Kourbelas and Neil Kourbelas and several great nephews and great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Mary Kourbelas and Tula Swan.
Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Vase Flaming Gorge Chapel, 263 East Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, Wyoming. Military Honors and inurnment will be in the Columbarium at the Riverview Cemetery in Green River, Wyoming. Friends may call at the Vase Chapel one hour prior to services.
