Virgil M. Keener, age 76 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
Virgil was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 15, 1937 to Monroe Columbus and Edith Louise (Bromme) Keener. He served his country in the US Marine Corps. He married Rosalee Toft on August 5, 1956 in Waterford Twp., MI. He had worked as a carpenter for Poncraft Door Company in Pontiac for many years. Virgil received the Lord as his Savior in 1971 at Stone Baptist Church in Avon Twp., MI and had worked as a custodian at Rochester Hills Baptist Church. He and Rosalee moved to Fairview, MI in 1989, Virgil was a member of the Mio Baptist Church and enjoyed both hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Virgil is survived by his wife Rosalee of Fairview, MI; his children: Valerie (Thomas) Goodwill of Pontiac, MI; and Vicki (Pastor Andrew) Edwards of Ida, MI ; his sister Charlotte (Lee) Hagner of Bloomville, OH; 8 grandchildren: Thomas, David, Samantha, Andrew, Caleb, Kalee, Breanna, and Levi; and 9 great grandchildren: Jason, Klayton, Rachael, Caleb, Tucker, Evelyn, Addison, Sadie, and Emma Jo. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald Keener.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 11 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 12 Noon at the Mio Baptist Church, Mio, Michigan with Pastors Andrew Edwards and Glynn McMorris officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will following the funeral service.
