DAVID A. NELSON

David A. Nelson, of Neenah, age 56, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 1, 1958 in Neenah, son of Duane and Nancy (NaGreen) Nelson.

Dave married Laura Evansen on July 12, 1995 in Door County, Wisconsin.

Dave will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  He was generous with his time to anyone who needed him. Dave never refused a request for help, and always put others ahead of himself.

Dave enjoyed following NASCAR and the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers, but nothing meant more to him than watching his children’s sporting activities. He loved playing golf, and we know he is playing a round of golf in heaven and loving every minute of it.

He was employed with Air Wisconsin for several years before realizing his dream of owning his own business, The Firelite in Neenah. Dave was loved by his large Firelite family, but most of all, he was loved by his own family.  As proud as Dave was of his business, his greatest accomplishment was his children, who meant everything to him.

Survivors include his wife, Laura; his two children, Matt and Sara; a brother, Paul Nelson; two sisters, Sue Nelson and Diana Corbin; his mother, Nancy Anderson; maternal grandmother, Sophia NaGreen; his mother-in-law, Cecile Evansen; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and countless other friends and relatives whose lives he touched.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Duane; his maternal grandfather, Clarence NaGreen and his paternal grandparents, Myron and Mildred Nelson.

two uncles; an aunt; and his father-in-law, Gordon Evansen.

Per Dave’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held for the family and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Firelite at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions will be set aside for Matt and Sara’s college education funds.

I love you, honey. Until we meet again. -Laura

The family wishes to thank all of Dave’s caregivers at the Michael D. Wachtel Cancer Center for their care, kindness, and compassion.
