Mary “Chris” Shoebottom, age 81 of St. Clair has completed her walk in life. She died March 13, 2014 at Marwood Manor. She was born July 18, 1932, in St. Clair, the daughter of the late Delbert and Elizabeth Sterling and where she remained a lifelong resident. She married Robert G. Shoebottom on June 4th, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed at Michigan Bell as an operator until they went to dial. She then worked at both Carmen and Locks Cleaners. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a Lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cornell-Marysville Chapter #93. Mary is survived by a daughter, Corinne (Mark) Roosen; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Paul) Merchant; great grandsons, Ethan and Alexander Merchant; great granddaughter, Anelise Merchant and good friend Elaine Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Shoebottom on July 5, 1995 and her brothers Delbert, Charlie, and Robert Sterling. Time for sharing memories is being held Thursday March 20th from 4-7:00 p.m. and Friday March 21st from 3-8:00 p.m. in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 22, 2014 in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair. Thank you to the caregivers at Marwood who took care of Gram and to Heartland Hospice for making her comfortable. As Gram always said “Toodle-oo” until we meet again.
