Mr. James Childress Warford, 84, of Union City died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Exchange Street Church of Christ. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m on Wednesday at Rawls Funeral Home.
He was born March 19, 1929, in Union City, son of the late Joe and Ora Warford.
He was a graduate of the former Miles High School in Union City and was a member of Vine Street Church of Christ. He was a former employee of General Motors and had retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He had also worked as a carpenter.
Survivors include five daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara Dixon of Niles, Mich., Janette and Jimmy Beckett of Fishers, Ind., Sharon and Norman Britton of Covington, Ga., and Cynthia Warford and Lisa and Donnie Taylor, all of Union City; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Warford of Kannapolis, N.C., Michael and Arlene Warford of Union City and Timothy and Toni Warford of Paducah, Ky.; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Warford of Elizabethtown, Ky.; and 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three wives, Betty Warford, Doris Jean Warford and Marie Warford; three children, Judy Lynn Warford and twins Dennis and Denise Warford; four brothers, Joe Warford Jr., Everett Warford, George Warford and Roland Warford; and his sister, Nannie Mae Lanier.
