Mr. John Joseph Einik, of Watertown, loving husband of Elena (Tiso) Einik, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, March 9, 2014 at The Watermark at East Hill in Southbury, after spending a precious day with his family.

John was born in Naugatuck on October 23, 1922, son of the late Peter & Mary (Kuzcek) Einik of Union City. He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. A WW II veteran, John proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Before retirement he had worked for Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company and Cadbury Schweppes for 47 years. He was a religious man loved by all who knew him, very family oriented and affectionately known as “Mr. Chocolate”. To know him was to love him and he will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Besides his wife Elena, he is survived by two loving daughters, Linda Zarrella and her husband Ron of Rochester, New York and Nantucket, Massachusetts and Lori Wilkas of Manhattan, New York. John (PaPa John) has two beloved granddaughters, Katharine Zarrella of Manhattan, New York and Lily Zarrella of Boston, Massachusetts. He leaves a sister, Helen Zarozny of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Tiso of Dallas, Texas and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Theodore Einik, two sisters, Mary Federowicz and Angeline Hochon and two sisters-in-law, Rose Stango and Carmel Tarasewicz.

Mr. Einik’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Springs of The Watermark at East Hill, Southbury for their kindness and compassion in their care of John.

Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main Street, Watertown. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours. FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury has been entrusted with the arrangements.
