Colonel Levi Biddy

Services for Colonel Levi “C.L.” Biddy, 95, of Chandler, are scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at West Lake Baptist Church in Chandler. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Tecula Cemetery under direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Biddy died March 6, 2014 at Hospice of East Texas after a lengthy illness. He was born February 17, 1919 in Avinger to the late Josie and Spivey Biddy. C.L. married the late Mila Loma Watkins on November 16, 1940. He was a WWII veteran, having received the Purple Heart, EAME Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, a WWII Victory Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps (CC Camp) from April 5, 1939 to March 31, 1940.

He moved to Tyler in 1950 and to Chandler in 1978. He worked for Delta Drilling Company for 34 years. He was a dedicated member of West Lake Baptist Church in Chandler and loved his Sunday school class and church. He loved gardening, Forty-Two, Checkers, telling stories about his family, teasing, and was an avid fisherman.

He is preceded in death by wife, Mila Loma Watkins Biddy, son-in-law, Millburn Dudley, grandson, Michael Scott Stine, great-great grandson, Dustin Paul Dudley, great-great granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Cooper, parents, five brothers, and seven sisters.

Survivors include family, Era Jean Biddy, Betty Ann Stine and husband Mike, Loma Dudley, Marian Lynn Smith and husband Pat, Phillip Dudley, Michelle Robinson, Camille Cooper, Kimberly Moyer, Lisa Meeks, Brian Smith, 11 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brother, Howard O’Neal Biddy, sister, Annie Ruth Brown, and numerous niece and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas, 75701, or, West Lake Baptist Church, 1439 FM 315 South, Chandler, Texas, 75758.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
