William Lester Hensley age 82, of Warsaw, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at his home in Benton County. He was born on April 14, 1931 in Benton County, Missouri, the son of William and Lula (Ashley) Hensley.
He grew up in Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea as a sergeant from 1952 until 1954. After his honorable discharge he worked for the carpenters union in Kansas City, California and Iowa. After returning to the Kansas City area he was united in marriage to Greeta Copp in June of 1985. Continuing his work in the carpenters union they made their home in Independence, Missouri and Des Moines Iowa, before retiring in 1995 to their cattle farm in Benton County.
Lester was a 50 year member of the American Legion and the East Gate Masonic Lodge. He loved to raise cattle, garden and grow flowers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Clarence Hensley and four sisters; Elva Clear, Eula Estes, Ruby Rasco and Marie Brown.
He is survived by his wife Greeta Hensley, of the home, one sister Jewell Bradley, of Independence, Missouri and a sister-in-law Donna Cobb of Warsaw, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for William Lester Hensley will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Reser Funeral Home, in Warsaw. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service. Graveside Services with military rites will be held at L.P. Union-Weaver Cemetery near Warsaw. Memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
