Funeral Services for Rev. James Donald " J.D " Smith, 91, Of Decatur who passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 @ Decatur Morgan Hospital / Decatur General Campus will be Friday, March 14, 2014 @ 12:00 Noon @ St. Stephen Primitive Baptist Church, with Rev. Willie White, Officiating. Burial in Sterrs Cemetery. Rev. Smith will be in church 1 hr before the services.

On May 16, 1922 James Donald " J. D. " Smith was born to the late Nettie Pettis and the late Tom Smith.

J. D. as he was known was converted in June 29, 1942 under the late Rev. M. C. Cosby at Shiloh Missionary Baptist in Decatur, Alabama. He Pastored 5 Churches: Newsby Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Athens, Alabama. Bethel Missionary Maptist Church in Leighton, Alabama. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Somerville, Alabama. And Sandhill Missionary Baptist Church in Priceville, Alabama. He was twice Field Missionary in Round Island Creek Association and was 1st Vice Moderator of Flint Association.

He attended Central Baptist School in Cleveland, Ohio and took one course at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: George Smith, Booker T. Smith and Fred Smith. 3 Sisters: Margaret Prince, Maggie Jackson and Charity Wilson. 2 Daughters: Marcia Smith And Rita Smith. 1 Son: Michael ( Mickey ) Smith.

He departed this life Thursday, March 6, 2014 @ Decatur Morgan Hospital / Decatur General Campus.

He leaves to cherish his memories a wife: Ada Thatch Smith. to this union 4 children were born: Terrance ( terri ) Smith, Anthony Smith, Yolanda Smith and LaShonda Smith. His children from previous marriages: Aldeone ( Robert ) Whitelaw, Christine ( J. B. ) Kinney, James ( Frog ) Smith, Evelyn Smith, George Smith, Tom Henry, Marco, Elaine, Betty, Margaret and Eric brown. 5 Step Children: Vernice ( Marcus ) Jones, Deborah Nelson, John Nelson, Angela Nelson and Veronica ( Marcus ) Nelson. 5 Sisters: Mable ( Rev. Alfred ) Wilson, Callie ( James ) Scott, Tommie Jean Williams and Barbara Jean Smith. 1 Brother: James Lee ( Diane ) Smith. 24 Grand Children. 24 Great Grand children. 1 Great Great Grand Child. 11 Step Grand Children and A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
