Robert D. “Bob” Anderson, 80, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his home.
He was born on August 12, 1933 to Robert E. and Rosa (Stribling) Anderson in Foster, Oklahoma.
Bob graduated from Pernell High School in 1952. He was the son of a sharecropper and oilfield worker in south central Oklahoma, so college wasn’t an option until later, while in the Air Force. He came within one credit of finishing his Bachelors.
He married Betty Flowers on December 25, 1954 in Pernell, Oklahoma and they recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day of 2013.
Bob retired from the military on June 1, 1973 after proudly serving his country for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force earning the rank of SMSGT.
Bob was the pulpit minister for the Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh for many years. He was the chairman of the Tecumseh Chapter of the American Heart Association. Bob enjoyed golf, fishing, woodworking, snow skiing, water skiing, scuba diving, shell collecting, hunting, and especially spending time with his family and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Stidham; parents, Robert E. and Rosa Anderson; and brother-in-law, John Oller.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Anderson, of the home; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Tanya and Tim Stidham, of Los Alamos, NM and Tammy and Joe Ware, of McAlester, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Lisa Anderson, of Tulsa, OK; 6 sisters and 4 brothers-in-law, Marie Oller, of Moore, OK, Wilma and Jack Smith, of Lake Texoma, OK, Norma Temple, of Pauls Valley, OK, Becky and Jerry Durham, of Edmond, OK, Edwina and Ed Bristol, of Davis, OK and Beth and Bob Frizzell, of Moore, OK; 4 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law, Don and Susan Anderson, of Edmond, OK, David and Gail Anderson, of Ardmore, OK, Clois and Linda Anderson, of Lake Texoma, OK and Larry and Libby Anderson, of Pernell, OK; 9 grandchildren, Tracy and Julie Stidham, Tony and Zee Stidham, Tera and David Todd Harmon, Tiffany and Christopher Harmon, Aubrey and Adan Ontiveros, Ethan Anderson, Tristan Anderson, Emilee and Cameron Box and Matthew Ware; 17 great-great grandchildren; his Highland Church of Christ family; and numerous extended family and many many friends.
The family has designated donations be made to Mozambique Missions, c/o: Los Alamos Church of Christ, 2323 Diamond, Los Alamos, NM 87544 as appropriate for memorials.
Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 and continue through service time. Family will gather to meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh with Erick Henson, Tim Stidham and Joe Ware officiating.
