FRAMINGHAM-Robert Francis Allen, age 80, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Monday March 3, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Mildred Agnes (McIntyre) Allen.
He was the loving husband of 47 years to the late Joanne (Pasteris) Allen who died in 2007.
Mr. Allen graduated from Framingham High School class of 1951.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and served as a member of the Military Police in Germany until his discharge in 1955.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a meat cutter at the former A & P Market and Kansas City Beef Co. both in Framingham, the Dover Market in Dover and Roche Bros. Supermarket in Natick.
Mr. Allen loved reading, traveling, socializing with family and friends and sports; especially the Patriots. He and his wife had beautiful memories of annual family vacations in Maine and visiting family in Hawaii and Seattle. His true love was for his family, especially his wife, sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren Monique and Bennett.
He is survived by his two sons, CAPT. Robert J. Allen, U.S. Navy, of Key West, FL, and David P. Allen and his wife Kathleen of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Monique and Bennett Allen both of Seattle, WA and his siblings; William Allen and his wife Barbara, Richard Allen, Shirley Vahey, Nancy Spano, Donald Allen his wife Michele, Ronald Allen and his wife Donna and Martha Johnson and her husband Bruce as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 7 from 5 – 8 pm at the Norton Funeral Home 53 Beech St., Framingham. For relatives and friends traveling from a distance or who are unable to attend Friday, you are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday March 8, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Allen’s funeral Mass at 11 am in St. Stephen’s Church 221 Concord St. in Framingham.
Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Fenwick St. Framingham.
