MR. PAUL PETER MATRIGALI, 97 of 89 Phelps Ave. North Adams, MA died Sunday March 2, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in North Adams, MA on December 24, 1916, son of Amedio and Anna (Zucchero) Matrigali. He attended local schools including the Haskins School and Drury High School. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army in the 245th Company of Engineers. Paul was employed by the City of North Adams as its Plumbing and Gas Inspector until his retirement with 49 years of service to the city. Before that, he worked as a plumber with Bert Shields for 25 years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Paul was a member of the North Adams Elks and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Paul enjoyed playing the piano. In his younger years, he played the trumpet. While in the service, he had his own band. Survivors include his wife, the former Marie C. DeMayo, whom he married on September 22, 1967. One daughter- Mary Ann George and her husband, Lawrence of North Adams One son- Daniel Matrigali and his companion, Ellen Wohrle of Adams One stepson- Edward Luscia and his wife, Barbara of Pownal, VT. He also leaves seven grandchildren including Brice George, Kyle George, Christopher Luscia, Shannon Luscia, Macaul Zuk, Arizona Matrigali, and Noah Matrigali; and five great grandchildren including Emily George, Jack George, Chase George, Paul George, and Grace Elizabeth Luscia; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Carmella Maruco Matrigali, who died in 1965. Three sisters and one brother are also deceased including Theresa Prejsnar, Mary Girard, Josephine Rotolo, and George Matrigali. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Paul Matrigali will be Thursday March 6, 2014 at 10:15 AM from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
