Iris H. Clark, 79, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Eugene, Oregon.
Iris was born on September 30, 1934, in Ft. Recovery, OH, and raised in Centerville, IN, to Alfred ‘Buff’ and Dorothy Berniece (Breymier) Resh. They preceded her in death.
Iris graduated from Centerville High School in 1952 and received her nursing credentials from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Iris worked as a surgical nurse in Indianapolis and a Registered Nurse at Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. In Huntington, she spent most of her professional career with Dr. S.E. Cope's practice and served as City Councilman-at-Large from 1980-1995. As such, she enjoyed a long affiliation with the Indiana Associations of Cities and Towns and was dedicated to historic preservation, as a founding member of Huntington Alert.
Iris was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington and she worked as Church Secretary at Christ the King Episcopal Church. She golfed for many years at the La Fontaine Golf Club. She travelled regularly and was an avid reader and gamer.
Iris is survived by three children, Chris (Cathy) Clark of Boulder, CO; Erin Gilchrist of Bandon, OR; Stephanie Clark of North Hollywood, CA; and three grandchildren, Emma, Aidan and Ronan Clark. She also is survived by three siblings, Phyllis (Jerry) Mattheis of Cambridge City, IN; Mary Ann (Jim) Carp of Hampton, GA and James A. (Sandra) Resh of Richmond, IN.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750, with Rev. Robert Land officiating.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Lutherania Cemetery, 2000 Liberty Avenue, Richmond, Indiana, 47374.
