Lonny Otis Ballard Sr., 78, of Brethren, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 8, 1935, in Mason, the son of Robert and Beatrice (Otis) Ballard.
Lonny retired in 1982 as a foreman at General Motors Lansing Main Plant where he had been employed for over 30 years. Afterwards, Lonny moved to Brethren where he started Bear Creek Wood Products in Kaleva. Lonny loved woodworking and being an outdoorsman.
Lonny is survived by: his loving companion, Mary Rugg; his sons, Lonny (Mary) Ballard Jr. of Brethren, and Stephen (Carol) Ballard of Port Charlotte, Florida; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ronald (Cathy) Ballard of Mason, and Phillip (Marlene) Ballard of Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
Lonny was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Annette during childhood.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, with Pastor Joseph Hilyard officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1-3 PM at the funeral home.
