Archie Lowell Wood, 89, of Chandler, passed away on February, 20, 2014.
He was born in Graysonia, Arkansas on June 30, 1924 to the late Archie and Essie Wood. Lowell graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and received a bachelor's degree in science from Louisiana State University in 1949. He was married to the late Carolyn Haeuser Wood.
Lowell served in the 8th Air Force, during World War II as lead navigator and group leader for the 525th Squadron. He served in the European Theater and navigated in 22 bombing missions over Germany. Lowell was a petroleum geologist for more than 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy Wood and Delos Wood.
Lowell is survived by his sister and spouse, John and Shirley Baker, of Searcy Arkansas; and brother and spouse, Charles and Joan Wood, of Mobile, Alabama; three children and spouses, Richard and Margaret Griffin, of Tyler, Jim and Patricia Wood, of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and John Wood, of Chandler. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014, with family receiving friends from 6-8 PM at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
