David Lee Irby

U.S. Veteran

David Lee Irby was born September 6, 1945 to Delmar Grant Irby and Gladys Clio (Bowerman) Irby in Konawa, Oklahoma and passed away February 24, 2014 at his home in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma after a 2 year struggle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

David grew up and attended school in Konawa then joined the United States Air Force in 1965. During his term in the Air Force, he served in numerous states in the USA, as well as Okinawa, Japan and Istanbul, Turkey. David married Judy LaVonne Norrid on March 14, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

David is survived by his wife Judy of the home; his daughters, Vanessa (Irby) Kennison and husband, Michael, of Moore, Oklahoma, and Hollie (Irby) Cuellar and husband, Matthew, and two grandsons, David and Daniel of Bucharest, Romania; three sisters, Beverly Towler of Ralls, Texas, Linda McCraw of Konawa, Oklahoma, and Patricia McGuire of Wewoka, Oklahoma; and many other loved ones and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar Grant and Gladys Clio (Bowerman) Irby; three sisters, Betty Myatt, Norma Tew, Sandra Atkins; and two brothers, Jessie Irby and D.G. Irby.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma with Brother Wayne Childers officiating. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at David’s final resting place, Mountain Home Cemetery near Stigler, Oklahoma with Troy Caudle officiating.
