Liberty - Michael Stewart Perry, 65, of 5123 Old Greenville Highway, husband of Sandra Peeples Perry, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 24, 2014.
Born July 1, 1948 in Greenville, he was the son of Sara Whitlock Perry of Liberty and the late Thomas Stewart Perry. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked as a building superintendant with Ryan’s Family Steakhouses. Mr. Perry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known as the “knife man”. He was a member of Slabtown Masonic Lodge #233 AFM and Calvary Baptist Church, Liberty.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of the home; two daughters, Denise Day and husband, Scott of Pickens and Tracy Roberts and husband, Sam of Fair Play; grandchildren, Alexis Day, Ryan Day, Samantha Roberts, Michael Thomas Roberts and Charlie Roberts; mother, Sara W. Perry; brother, Timothy Mark Perry of Liberty; and a sister, Angela Vaughn of Greenwood. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Aaron Perry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Philip McAlister. Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Liberty. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, 3205 North Highway 81, Anderson. The family is at the residence and at the home of his mother, 7913 Liberty Highway, Liberty.
