RICHARD M. HARRIS

Richard M. Harris, age 68, of Union, MO died Monday, February 24, 2014 in Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, MO following a brief illness.

Rick was born November 11, 1945 at Keokuk, IA, a son of Cecil B. and Betty Snider Harris.

He married Mary Linda Ludwick and they were the parents of a daughter, Lisa.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Mrs. Terry) Moyer of Maryland Heights, MO, three grandchildren: Christopher Fuchs of Overland, MO, Deanna Moyer of Maryland Heights, MO and Elizabeth Moyer of Maryland Heights, MO; one great-grandchild, Aubrey Fuchs of Overland, MO; a brother, Phillip R. Harris of Kahoka, MO; three sisters, Sue Dixon of College Station, TX, JoAnn (Mrs. Brad) Crane of Marthasville, MO, and Cecelia (Mrs. Richard) Long of Alton, VA; one uncle, Jim (Barb) Snider of Spokane, WA; aunts, Marilee Lipper of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Kahoka, MO and Oneida Bourgeois of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard attended the Arbela Baptist Church and graduated from Kahoka High School in 1963. He enlisted in the Navy where he served on the USS Ticonderoga from 1964-1969.

Richard attended Bailey Technical School in St. Louis, MO and was an auto mechanic in the St. Louis area until his retirement several years ago. He enjoyed tinkering with his cars and tractors, caring for his chickens and horses, and growing a large garden on his hobby farm in Union, MO. His family and friends were very important to him.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Richard Long officiating. Burial with military rites followed in the New Woodville Cemetery, Wyaconda, MO.

Memorials were suggested to the New Woodville Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.
