FRAMINGHAM- Ida C. (Donati) Proulx, age 89, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died peacefully Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Wingate at Sudbury, surrounded by her family.
Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Andrea and Filomena (Casciolini) Donati.
She was the wife of the late Jean Proulx who died in 1984.
Ida was the beloved sister of the late Rica Palanzi and the late Yola J. Alzapiedi.
Ida graduated from the Framingham Public Schools and after high school she received additional business education. She worked as a Bookkeeper at Fenwal, Inc. in the 1950s and later for over 20 years as the lead Accountant for the Town of Framingham School System. Then, she worked as the Bookkeeper for M&M Package Stores prior to her full retirement at the age of 82, to help care for her ailing sister.
She was an active member of St. Tarcisius Church where she was a member of the Golden Rays. Ida enjoyed knitting and embroidery, drawing, reading, games, ‘rides to nowhere’, music, the beach and all her summer friends at the Bass River Trailer Park in South Yarmouth. She also made many new friends at Emeritus at Farm Pond Assisted Living in Framingham, where she resided for the past year. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, preparing special meals with them and passing on to them all of her culturally rich Italian family recipes and traditions.
Mrs. Proulx is survived by her nieces and nephews to whom she has been their ‘Auntie’, their second mother, their best friend and their confidante including Richard Palanzi and his fiancé Dharam-Jot Khalsa of Framingham and Cape Cod, Beverly Palanzi-Schuil and her husband, Willem of the Netherlands and Cape Cod, Dennis Alzapiedi and his wife Sue of Milford, Robert Alzapiedi and his wife Karen of Bolton; her brother-in-law Albert Proulx and his wife Carol of Worcester; and many other cousins, nieces and grand-nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, March 1, at 8 am from the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (Corner of Union Ave) Framingham, followed by her funeral Mass at 9 am at St. Tarcisius Church, 563 Waverly St. Framingham. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Winthrop St. Framingham.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are Friday, February 28, from 4-7 pm.
