Fredrick Benjamin “Fritz” Willrett Jr., 76, of Malta, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb, after a fall at his home.
Born February 8, 1938, in Madison, South Dakota, the son of Fredrick B. and Lillian J. (Haggard) Willrett, Fritz had significant health problems as a young child; in 1940, the family returned to Illinois, where Fritz enjoyed the companionship of his cousins.
Fritz went to Malta schools and graduated from Malta High School in 1957. While in high school, he showed cattle, once at the Chicago International Livestock Exposition.
He remained at the “home place” and farmed for many years. Fritz really enjoyed raising sheep and custom wind-rowing hay. He enjoyed his garden and fruit trees.
He is survived by numerous cousins and a loving community.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1980 and his mother in 1999; and grandparents.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, at Malta United Methodist Church, South Third and Sprague streets, Malta, with the Rev. Dr. Noah R. Panlilio officiating. Burial will follow at Malta Cemetery, Malta.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, at the church.
