She was a Cub Scout Den Leader in her parish, as well. Helen was a long-time volunteer at St. Anthony’s Soup Kitchen where she took great pleasure working with the youth who came to the kitchen. She loved gathering her family around her on Sundays for dinner and took great pleasure in watching her grandchildren interact with one another. Helen also enjoyed many trips with her husband as they traveled around the world.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Helen Kannapel, William, her loving husband of 60 years, her sister Shirley McDonald, and great-grandson, Colton Herberger.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Herberger (Dennis), Paula Nelson (Frank), Jacqueline Mansbach (Mark); son, Robert Miller (Marilee); grandchildren, Daniel and Gregory Herberger, Elizabeth Garr, Andrea Yorgy, Adam Nelson, Captain Melanie, Kimberly and Ryan Mansbach and Allison and Paul Miller; nine great-grandchildren; brothers Steven Kannapel (Carol) and Thomas Kannapel (Pricilla), and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass will be at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, Pindell Avenue at Hess Lane on Saturday, February 15, 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2-8 p.m. at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenue.

The family wishes to offer their deep gratitude to Nazareth Home, Dr. Jane Cornett and Nurse Practitioner, Angela Ethridge, for the care and dignity extended to their mother in her final weeks.
