Dorothy Ann Arena, 82, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Salem Hills Rehabilitation Center, Purdys, NY.
A resident of Pawling since 1969, Dorothy was born in Brooklyn on January 20, 1932, to Marshall and Anna (Ragiel) Bexley. She married Carmelo Arena in Ashbury Park, NJ on July 24, 1955. She was a housewife and mother who enjoyed playing cards, dancing, traveling, and most of all, people.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Mel; her son, Daniel, and his wife, Cynthia, of Wingdale; two daughters, Patricia Arena of Manhattan and Barbara Schiavone and husband, Eugene, of Pawling; her brother, Robert Bexley, and his wife, Joan, of Holmes; her sister, Joan Governale of Ft. Meyers, FL; grandchildren Daniel, Mark, Kevin, Dana, and Joey; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her son, Stephen, who passed away in 1987.
Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Monday, February 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday at St. John’s Church, Pawling. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
