William Allison

U.S. Veteran

William Thomas Allison 75, passed away Feb. 7, 2014 at his home in Leesburg, Virginia after a long battle with leukemia. Burial will be graveside at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA on May 13th at 11 am.

William was born Jan. 14, 1939 in the Bethel Community to Charles Ashton Allison and Jewel Inez Sessums Allison. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1956. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1960, he proudly joined the U.S. Army and served two tours in Germany and two tours of duty in Vietnam. William met and married his wife of 50 years, Marlene Ferner, in Germany. He retired from the military as a Major after nearly 22 years of service, but continued to work in the Washington, DC area for 20 more years.

William was a Civil War enthusiast and had a passion for his home state of Texas, the Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys and animals. He often dressed in team attire as he faithfully watched their games on TV. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memories will be cherished of many good times savored by family and friends. William was a beloved husband, father, granddad, son and brother. Survivors include his wife, Marlene; three children, Carla Carrigan and husband Sean of Linden, VA, William Michael Allison and wife Kim of Purcellville, VA and George Allison of Leesburg, VA; three grandchildren, Zach, Sam and Hannah Allison all of Purcellville, VA; one sister, Jo Ellen Allison of Grand Prairie, TX; two aunts, Julia Trompler and Mable Allison, numerous cousins and his beloved dog, Bear.
