Bernice L. Hoobler, age 80, of Malvern, died Wed., Feb. 5, 2014 in the Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton. She was born Jan. 15, 1934 in Limestone, WV to Edward and Marie (Caulfield) Yoss. She had worked at Wood’s Grocery in Malvern for 27 years. She is a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she was the janitor for many years, a former member of the Carroll County Gang and the Singing Christians.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Merle Hoobler, whom she married Nov. 3, 1949 in West Middleton, PA; 2 daughters, Wanda (David) Detchon of Minerva and Donna (Paul) Fisher of Granby, CO; son, Daniel Hoobler of Canton; a sister, Wilda (Paul) Becknell of Carrollton; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Geraldine) Hoobler of Germano, and Wayne (Eileen) Hoobler of Shelby, NC; sister-in-law, Sharry Beadling of Alliance; grandchildren, Douglas (Lori) Detchon of N. Canton, Donald (Jody) Detchon of Bolivar, Timothy Detchon of Mt. Home, ID, Sabrina Detchon of Minerva, Genesis and Jacob Fisher and Jessica (Adan) Lopez of Granby, CO, and Michael and Brandy Moreno of Canton; great grandchildren, Hannah, Garrett, Isaac, Emma, Aaron, Gracie and Cooper Detchon, Dominic Jimenez, Jayden Lopez, and Van-Isaac Neff; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Freda, Elmer, Jim, Hazel, Anna Mae, Doris, Donald, Harold, Estella, Alta and Mary Dale.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Thomas officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 at the church.
