WESTFIELD / WORCESTER- Birger A. “Pete” Aldrin, 96, formerly of Bothnia Street, Worcester, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Westfield. His wife of 55 years, Rita M. (Dubois) Aldrin died in 1997. He leaves two nephews, Andrew Bergstand and Erik Dickinson, and a niece Kristine Morrissey. Pete also leaves his close friends and caregivers Ania and Susan Hitchcock and their families of Westfield and his dear friend of over 80 years, Edward Stoner of Westfield. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Alva, Alf, and Arnie, and his three sisters, Hildred, Hanna and Helen.
He was born in Worcester, son of Alfred and Helena (Ullstrom) Aldrin. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge. Pete worked as a molder at Norton Company for 33 years, retiring in 1980.
