Mr. Charles P. “Sockeye” Catanzaro, 85 of 3 Over Street, passed away Saturday, February 01, 2014 at Wolcott View Manor.
Charles was born in Waterbury on March 16, 1928, son of the late Joseph and Concetta (Bova) Catanzaro. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, having served his country during WWII. He worked for Electro power, retiring in 1993. He was proud to have served his country. He was an avid Yankee fan, also enjoyed fishing, bowling and was a scratch golfer.
He leaves one son; Charles P. Catanzaro and his wife Lori of Oakville, five daughters; Debra DeSocio of Waterbury, with whom he lived, Linda Gronowski and her husband Ed of Oakville, Christine Audet of Watertown, Nancy Seneco and her husband Vinnie of Oakville and Dawn Woodruff and her husband Michael of Prospect, six stepchildren; Robert, Donald, David, Roland and Mark St. Germain and Nicole Simmons, one brother; Joseph Catanzaro of Waterbury, a sister; Toni Vitone and her husband Jim of Waterbury, twenty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Philip Catanzaro.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Thursday, 9:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to Our Lady of Loreto Church for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
