Donnie Carl Artis, 58, of 22 Big Horn Ave., Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Goldsboro died Monday. Born March 9, 1955, in Goldsboro, NC, he was a son of the late Thad and Laurina C. (Coley) Artis.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 3 PM in the James T. Haskins Memorial Chapel of Haskins Funeral Home.
Mr. Artis served in the U.S. Army until his retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisher and outdoorsman. He was a fitness enthusiast, auto enthusiast and enjoyed bowling and golf. Donnie was fiercely devoted to his family and friends.
He was a Past Worship Master, 32nd degree of the Order of the Freemasons; a life member of the North American Hunting Club; and a member of the Praise and Worship Team of the U.S. Army War College Memorial Chapel.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Barbara Artis; sons, Patrick, Jason and Lamar Artis; grandchildren, Khalil, Sanaa, Jayden, Samaya, and Elijah Artis and Gianna Jordan; brothers, Roger Lee Artis, Thad (Carolyn) Artis, Claude (Lillie) Artis, Jerry (Joann) Artis and James (Linda) Artis; sisters, Irene Brodie, Berniece (Albert) Royal, and Jennie, all of Washington, D.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Edelgarde Masten of Rochester, NY; devoted friends, Cleveland and Dot Fowler of Kenansville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other devoted family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William and John-Lee Artis; and sisters, Dot Atkinson and Mary Morrissey.
