Daryl S. Miller of Grass Lake, age 94, passed away January 25, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Eunice; daughters, Darlene (Jon) Flannery and Diane (Cliff) Verbecken; grandchildren, Sherri (Chris) Keck, Jeff Flannery, Kay (Jim) Landers, Shellie (Jim) Holland and Stacie Raridon; great grandchildren, Aundrea Leone, Zachary Trumbull, Steven and Christine Fillinger, Scott and Jamie Landers, Spencer Flannery and Samantha Keck. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Josephine (Keesler) Miller; sister, Elsie Brown; brothers, Earl and Russell Miller. Daryl was an avid bowler and golfer and also played baseball growing up, having the opportunity to tryout with Detroit Tiger's as a pitcher. He began his career as a police officer with the Jackson City Police Department, climbing the ranks to Chief of Police, retiring with 32 years of service. During his tenure with the Police Department, he furthered his education and graduated from FBI school and was instrumental in starting the police honor guard. Daryl and Eunice enjoyed many pontoon rides with their family, often taking their grandkids to their favorite swimming hole. Daryl's great passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called him "Big GG". Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 P.M. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Sherwood Funeral Home, Grass Lake, with Rev. Larry Rubingh officiating. Cremation to follow the services.
