Paul Leonard Bettinger, 86, of Cottrellville, died after a short illness Monday, January 20, 2014. He was born January 31, 1927 in Detroit to the late John & Lucille (Gaglet) Bettinger. Paul served his country honorably in the US Navy during WWII. He married Ramona Dumont October 1947. She preceded him in death April 1997. He married Marie Babel March 4, 2000 in Flint, Michigan. Paul worked in construction trades and was a proud member of the Mill Wrights Local 1102 for many years. He was a great conversationalist and enjoyed sharing stories of his life experiences as well as his travels. He was a member of Our Lady on the River Parish, the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 3901 and the Old Newsboys. He is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Linda (Jonathan) Lee and their children, Jonathan and Christopher of California and Ramona Ann Bettinger of Marine City. He will also be missed by his step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John and a sister, Lucille Chapman. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, January 27, 2014 in Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Church. Visitation will be held from 3-8pm Sunday in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Marine City.
