Marcel D. ‘Hammer’ Hoaglan, age 75, of Sanborn, Wisconsin, formerly of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 19, 2014.
Hammer was born, in Independence, Iowa, on August 15, 1938, the son of Harold L. and Delma D. (Potter) Hoaglan. He moved to the Ashland area, with his family, in the early years and then to Lakeland, Minnesota. He also lived and worked in the Hudson area, for many years, and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He drove truck, for over 23 years, and then moved to Sanborn, Wisconsin, where he owned and operated Just a Bar, in Sanborn. He also worked for Bitter Creek Candle Supply until he retired. He loved his family and friends. He loved being outdoors and especially loved being at the race track on Saturday nights. He was truly one of a kind!
He is survived by: his wife, Barb, of Sanborn; his children: Marcel, Jr. (Patty), of Hudson; Misty (Tom) and Baily Frederick, of Roberts, Wisconsin; Melody (Roger) Anderson, of Maplewood, Minnesota; and Cy, of Sanborn; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends: Dewy, Brenda, Megan, Jordan and Annie Ylitalo of Ashland, Wisconsin; Jerry and Rosemary Anderson, of Sanborn; and Brian Zepczyk, of Sanborn.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, two brothers; and a special friend, Jerry Zepczyk; as well as his two canine buddies, Roadway and Tina.
A gathering, for family and friends, will be held at the Sanborn United Methodist Church, in Sanborn, beginning at 12, Noon, Saturday, February 1, 2014 and continuing until the hour of service.
A memorial service, for Hammer, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Sanborn United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Reverend Teena Racheli will officiate.
His interment will be private.
