Eugene W. Seisser, 76, of Genoa died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Kishwaukee Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1937 in Genoa. The son of William and Barbara (Reams) Seisser. He married Carol Becker on October 18, 1958 in Genoa.
Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1955-1963. He worked for Leich Electric/GE for 7 years, then for Barker Lumber for over 30 years and was employed for AG Communications/Lucent along with Trans Vac. Gene retired as Captain of the Genoa-Kingston Fire Dept. and rejoined the Fire/Police Dept. for a total of 38 years.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Genoa, where he served as an Elder, sang in the Church choir and various other organizations at the Church. He was secretary for the DeKalb Co. Fireman's Association.
Going fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports and all their other activities were a priority. He loved his family and was so very proud of his three grandson's military service. Gene will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Genoa; four children, Valerie Lee and Noreen (Ron) Plate, both of Kingston, Kevin Seisser of Genoa and Janet (Dave) Grimm of Kingston; 11 grandchildren, Amber (Chris) Smith, Justin (Kara Atwater) Lee, Scott Conro, Joline (fiance- Seth Oates) Conro, Courtney and Colin Seisser, Alex, Ashley, Tyler, Tanner and Connor Grimm; two great grandchildren, Jaiden Lee and Landen Smith; one sister, Sandra (Wilmer) Woods of KY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons-in-law, Danny Lee and Mark Conro.
His Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 N. State Rd., Genoa, with Rev. Jeremy Heilman officiating. Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00-7:30 PM at the Church and on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Church.
