Margaret Johnson Barnes

Celebration of life services will be held on Tuesday, January, 21, 2014, at the Greater Target African Methodist Episcopal Church, 7248 Old State Road, Holly Hill, South Carolina.  The Reverend R. L. Brown, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Greater Target/Bethel Cemetery.  Viewing will be on Monday from 12:00 noon - 8:00 pm.  The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Margaret J. Barnes, the daughter of the late Jim and Ethel W. Johnson, was born on January 30, 1923 and departed this life on January 14, 2014 at the Summerville Medical Center in Summerville, South Carolina.

She grew up in Holly Hill, South Carolina and attended the public schools of the area.

At a very early age, she was converted and became a member of the Greater Target African Methodist Church. 

 She was united in Holy Wedlock to Mr. Joe Nathan Barnes.  To this union, eight children were born, two of whom preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish fond memories:  six daughters, Miriam Green, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth (Johnny) Williams, Ethelene Lloyd, both of Holly Hill, South Carolina, Geneva (Melvin) Boyd, of Summerville, South Carolina, Jeanette (James) Lloyd, of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Carol Barnes, of Holly Hill, South Carolina; a special granddaughter, Laquana Frazier, of Summerville, South Carolina; a sister, Mildred Frazier, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Friends may call at the residence, 306 Bryan Street, Summerville, South Carolina and at the funeral home.
