Benjamin Molina Ballesteros, 56, of Douglas, Arizona joined our Heavenly Father on January 14, 2014. Ben was born in Tombstone, Arizona on May 16, 1957 to Virginia Molina and Victoriano Lopez Ballesteros. He attended Douglas public schools and graduated from Douglas High School in 1976. Ben joined the U.S. Marines in 1977 and exceled in rifle and pistol marksmanship achieving expert in both. He was highly respected by the marines in his squad and the example he set as their squad leader. His pinpoint accuracy as a mortarman squad leader further displayed his expertise with military weapons. He left the marines in 1981 and resided in Barstow, California for a short period of time before returning to his native Douglas. After settling in, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve, assigned to the maintenance platoon of the 8th Bn / 40th armored brigade in Douglas, where he maintained heavy armored equipment, to include the U.S. Army’s main battle tank. Honorably discharged after eight years in the Reserve, Ben remained in Douglas and worked in the construction trade for many years. In 2009 while attending church service, Ben was reacquainted with Delia Fitzhugh, a friend and co-worker from previous years. This was a match made in heaven; he married the love of his life, Delia in July 2010. Our beloved brother Ben is survived by the love of his life Delia Ballesteros of Douglas, Arizona. Son Juan “Nito” Ballesteros (Maria); Grandson Johnny of San Diego, California; Step children Dustin Sullivan (Kim), Serena Moore (Larry), and Tabatha Brown (David); grandchildren “Pattycake” Ariela, “Jamester” James along with several other grandchildren. He also had a special relationship with his mother in law Angelita Fitzhugh. Ben is also survived by his brothers Victor Ballesteros of Douglas, William Ballesteros (Christine) of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Ramon Ballesteros and Tom Ballesteros both of Tucson, Arizona. Sisters Lupe Marrufo (Enrique) of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Ana Cordova (Pete) of Douglas and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Juan and Maria Molina, Mother Virginia Molina Ballesteros, Step father Roberto “PA” Hoyos, father Victoriano Lopez Ballesteros and several other family members, maternal and paternal not named here whom we hold in our hearts and memories, precious always.
Visitation will be held at Brown Page Mortuary, 910 F Ave., Douglas, AZ from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at First Assembly of God, 1400 E. 13th St., Douglas, AZ at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014 with Pastor Richard Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans section of Calvary Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Marines Honor Guard, the American Legion and VFW Post 426. Pallbearers who will serve are Dustin Sullivan, Anthony Fitzhugh, Tom Ballesteros, Nito Ballesteros, Daniel Arvayo and Jesse Arvayo. Honorary pallbearers are Victor Ballesteros, Ramon Ballesteros, William Ballesteros, Billy Ballesteros, Manuel Herrera and JR Arvayo. In lieu of flowers donations are being accepted.
