Margie I. Hackett, 83, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Monday morning, January 13, 2014 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, Iowa.
Per Margie’s request there will be no funeral services. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Margie Ilene Hackett was born June 6, 1930, to Margie E. Trower Hacket and Ferd M. Hackett. She was raised by her maternal grandmother, Phoebe Irene Trower, following the death of her mother in September 1930. Ms. Hackett graduated from Oelwein High School in 1948. She became a dormitory advisor at the University of Iowa, working her way through college. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in English in 1958. She taught high school English in Colorado, California and Arizona and in Tempe, Arizona she worked as a book editor. She worked for the State of Arizona Department of Economic Security Research, doing recruiting and counseling. Ms. Hackett retired from the state services in June of 1995 after a quarter of a century.
Margie is survived by her cousins, Marilyn Lottich and Bernard Trower both of Waterloo; second cousin, Lynn Dawson of Maryland; and her long time best friend in Phoenix, Arizona, Pam (Mrs. Richard) Carlisle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; siblings, Robert Hackett, Raymond Hackett, Marianne Thomas (Mrs. Joe), Frances Mishler (Mrs. Floyd, Donald Hackett, Duane Hackett; and two half siblings.
