U.S. Veteran

Sam Avery Moore, 93 of Pine Mountain, GA died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Golden Living Nursing Home, Lanett, AL.

Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be held 11:00 am Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Pine Mountain with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore was born November 20, 1920 in Chipley, GA the son of Sam and Celera Bryant Moore. He was a retired engineer with Southern Bell Telephone Company. Mr. Moore was a lifetime member of the AT & T Pioneers Club. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of W.W. II. Mr. Moore was also a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and a member of Chipley Masonic Lodge # 4o. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jo Moore and son Sam Avery Moore, Jr.

Survivors include: daughters: Mary Katherine Ware(Roy) of Valley, AL and Barbara E. Beam(Chuck) of Pine Mountain, GA ; son: Michael M. Moore of Pine Mountain, GA; six grandchildren: Kelly Moore, Tammy Moore, Monica Douglas, Jason Moore, Jamison Ware, and Macy Whorton; eleven great-grandchildren: Justice Moore, Terrell Moore, Aubry Moore, Austin Moore, Avery Whorton, Eli Whorton, Kayla Whorton, Caroline Douglas, Emily Douglas, Marlee Moore and Tait Moore.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Golden Living Nursing Home in Lanett, AL for the love and care they showed Mr. Moore and his family during his time with them.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be given in memory of Mr. Sam Avery Moore to the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Pine Mountain, GA.
