Longtime Monte Vista resident Robert “Bob” Timothy Martinez, 56, died January 10, 2014 at his home in Monte Vista.
Bob was born in Monte Vista, Colorado on August 12, 1957, the son of Felix and Regina Sisneros Ortega. He married his wife of 15 years, Loraine Medina on April 15, 1998 in Monte Vista, Colorado.
Bob worked for many years as a Foreman at a Potato farm. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing with his brothers. He took great pride in his yard and kept everything in good order and was very clean.
Bob was an avid Denver Broncos fan and frequently watched their games on television. He also had a talent for art and drawing.
Bob is survived by his mother Regina Ortega of Monte Vista; his loving wife Loraine Martinez of Monte Vista; his children Robert Samora of Colorado Springs, Laura (Efriam) Lovato, Robert (Angela) Lovato, and Kimberly (Felipe) Lovato, all of Monte Vista; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister and brothers Jessica Ortega of West Valley Utah, Don (Janet) Martinez of Monte Vista, John Martinez of Englewood, CO, Vincent (Lupita) Ortega of Center, Gene (Yolanda) Ortega of Monte Vista, Arnold (Debbie) Ortega of Clifton, CO, and Dario (Jen) Ortega of Espanola, NM; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
His father preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 from 1:00 pm. until 5:00 pm at the Rogers Family Mortuary, 404 Morris Street in Monte Vista, followed by a Recitation of the Rosary 7:00 pm Monday evening at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday, January 14, 2014 also at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery.
