Roy N. “Skip Jr.” Louis III, 46, of Ladd, died unexpectedly in his home at 10:53 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday, January 13, at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley. Burial will at a later date.

Roy was born on May 10, 1967 in Streator, IL to Roy N. and Carol A. (Stewart) Louis Jr.

He was a 1985 graduate of Hall High School. While serving 16 years in the U.S. Navy, he also completed Military Damage Controlman School, Navy C.B.R. Defense Operations and Training Specialist Course, and Instructor Training School. Roy served aboard the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt. He was an instructor and training specialist. He received many decorations and medals for his service including the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy “E” Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.

Roy was currently working as a shop mechanic for Double D Trucking. He was a life member of the Ottawa V.F.W. #2470 and American Legion Post # 33 of Ottawa. He was also a member of the Peru Eagles Lodge # 2688, the Illinois Valley Bowling Association where he was once bowler of the year after bowling three 800 series and fifteen 300 games, and the United States Bowling Congress.

Survivors include his parents, Roy N. “Skip Sr.” and Carol A. Louis of Ladd; four daughters, Megan, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Hanna Louis, all of Norfolk,VA; his lifelong friend, Mary Mauer, of Peru; his brother, Brian Louis, of Janesville, WI; his sister, Tammy (Danny) Parochetti of Ladd; three nephews, one niece, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, one uncle, one aunt, and two cousins.
