Willie Ethel (Winfrey) Greer was born on January 14, 1933 in Popular Creek, Mississippi. She was the seventh child of ten born to the late Alonzo Preston and Ida Golden Winfrey.
At an early age, Willie confessed her belief in Jesus Christ. She attended and graduated from Mt. Zion High School in Popular Creek, Mississippi. Later she returned to school and earned her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center. She worked in the University Health System for 32 years before retiring in 2000.
In 1955, Willie married the love of her life, Orece Greer. Throughout her 58 years of marriage Willie was a devout Christian; a loyal and loving wife; a dedicated and doting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; a caring and diligent nurse; and a true friend.
Willie’s legacy of love will continue to thrive for years to come as she leaves cherished memories with her husband, Orece; children, Rajah O. Greer I (Sandra), Sahara C. Greer (Judi), Belinda L. (Charles) Guillory, Lisa D. Greer, and Lici D. Greer; Grandchildren, Angel Hogan, Sahara O.D. Greer, Dayton C. Guillory, D’Andre Floyd, Rajah O. Greer II, Sheridan C. Greer, Ranauldo R. Greer, Shai D. Greer, Jarde’ J. Greer, Christon A. Guillory, Sydni D. Greer, Preston L. Greer, Pryson M. Greer, Peighton B. Greer, and Jackie J. Linson; great grandchildren, Alani J. Hogan, Ashlyn J. Hogan, and Sahara O. D. Greer II; siblings, Laura Henson (Hosea deceased) of Popular Creek, Mississippi, Joseph Winfrey (Connie) of Gary, Indiana, and Maggie Gunner of Columbia, South Carolina. Six siblings claimed their crowns before Willie, Pazallar Poe, Gertrude Poe, Alonzo Winfrey, James Winfrey, C.A. Winfrey, and Woodroe Winfrey. Willie also leaves cherished memories with host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
