Mary Jane Midgette

Mary Jane Midgette, 81 of Virginia Beach, Virginia departed this life on 8 January 2014, and went home to be with the Lord. Mary Jane was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Henry Taplin and Minnie Parsons Taplin. She was preceded in death on 7 February 1996 by her husband of 45 years Donald L. Midgette Sr. Mary Jane was also preceded in death (5 March 1992) by her youngest son Douglas Wayne Midgette, and her 4 older siblings Alfred (Norfolk), Will and Vernon (Chesapeake) Taplin and her sister Ella Everette (Miami FL).

Mary Jane leaves behind to cherish her memory, her eldest son Donald L. Midgette Jr. and his wife Patricia – their children: daughter Danyle and husband Dustin Howard, son Asher Midgette and fiance` Melissa Hollobaugh. Also left to cherish her memory, Mary Jane’s daughter Robin and husband James Robison – their children: son Shawn Robison, daughter Christina and husband Kevin Goodey. Mary Jane has 5 Great Grandchildren who all brought her great joy: Brian Redifer and his sister Drew Howard; Cason and brother Carter Midgette; and Ethan Goodey.

Mary Jane was a resident of Sentara Village in Virginia Beach for 7 and a half years following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Mary Jane’s family would like to thank all of her friends – ESPECIALLY Carol Harris and Audry Harris for their love and support during the most difficult of times.

A visitation will be held in the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 12 to 1:00 pm with a graveside celebration of her life following in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with the Chaplin Dustin Creech officiating at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Relay for Life of Virginia Beach for Breast Cancer Research.
