Mildred Martin Nisler Foote, age 98 of Lake Village, died Sunday, January 05, 2014, at Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village. She was born April 15, 1915 and grew up in East Texas. She was the second of four daughters born to Johnnie Goforth Martin and Edward Emri Martin. Her parents and all her sisters preceded her in death. In 1933 while living in Tyler, Texas, William E. (Billy) Foote of Hamburg introduced his roommate William C. (Billy) Nisler of Morrilton to Mildred Martin. Later that same year Billy Nisler and Mildred married and to that union one daughter, Marilynn, was born. Mildred, Bill and Marilynn moved from Texas to Dermott in 1942. Billy Foote returned to Hamburg, married Mildred Sawyer, and they reared three sons. Fifty seven years after their first meeting in Tyler, Mildred Nisler and Billy Foote were both widowed. They renewed their relationship and were married in September, 1987. They were married seven years when Billy died in 1994. Mildred Nisler Foote lived the last 15 years of her life at Lake Village Residential Care. She frequently said to family members “I have lived a good life and had two wonderful husbands, and a great family. My life has been full and happy”. Mimi, as she was renamed by her grandchildren, was active in community service, loved to play bridge, and work crossword puzzles. Mimi had a keen mind. All of her almost 99 years she was an avid reader and was very upset if her Arkansas Democrat-Gazette did not arrive on time every morning. Most of all she was a Christian and loved her United Methodist Church in Tyler, Dermott, Hamburg, and Lake Village. She is survived by her daughter, Marilynn Nisler Loyd (Dr. Marvin Loyd) and two grandchildren, Dr. Gregory Marvin Loyd (Dr. Marta M. Loyd) and Dr. Nancy Loyd Rieves. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Dr. Susan Loyd McDonald (Jason), Scott Martin Loyd, Bryan Gregory Loyd, Grace Rieves Humber (David) and Loyd Nisler Rieves (Deeann), and one great great granddaughter, Anna Caroline McDonald. All the Foote family were very special to her. She especially cherished her friendship with Nancy Foote Spivey. Although Mimi was a transplanted Arkansas, she enjoyed returning to Texas just to “Smell the bluebonnets”. The family finds comfort in knowing she can once again smell the bluebonnets every day. The burial service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Dermott Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Village with Rev. Bart Bynum officiating. Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
