Dwain Moer, age 55, of Scotland, Texas passed away December 31, 2013 in a Wichita Falls hospital.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Deacon Don Brown officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Jack McKone, Pastoral Administrator of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Dwain was born June 15, 1958 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Frank and Kathleen Ann Schreiber Moer. He attended junior high school at Notre Dame and graduated in May of 1976 from Windthorst High School. In June 1983, he attended IBEW Local 681 Apprenticeship Electrical School in Wichita Falls.
He and Joyce Hoff were married September 11, 1976 in Scotland, Texas.
Along with his father, Dwain was co-owner and operator of Moer Electric in Scotland.
Dwain was a wonderful and loving husband, dad and “Pops” and loved all children and was a kid at heart. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of a tournament fishing club. Dwain was an excellent cook and the best fish fryer around.
Dwain was a member of the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department where he was the current Assistant Fire Chief, the Scotland Knights of Columbus and St. Boniface Catholic Church. For several years, Dwain was very active with the Archer County Livestock Show.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of the home; daughter, Jessica Moer Alexander and husband, Jeff of Canyon, Texas; son, Grant Moer and wife, Aubrey of Archer City; his parents, Frank and Kathleen Moer of Scotland; three sisters, Debbie Hoff and husband, Frosty of Windthorst, Rita Luig and husband, Perry of Holliday, and Rhonda and Charles Steinberger of Windthorst; mother-in-law, Cathy Hoff of Scotland; and three grandchildren, Madeline and Makenna Alexander and Tylar Katherine Moer; and several nieces and nephews.
Dwain was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Toddy Hoff, sister-in-law, Becky Canada, and brother-in-law, Dale Hoff.
