Beloved husband, brother, friend. John, 73, a long-time resident of Roseville, MN, died peacefully at home on December 31st, in the presence of his wife and friends. Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lynn; his brother Forest (Woody) and sisters, Delores (Dee), Kathleen (Kate), and Susan; sister-in-law, Doris; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie and father, Forest; his oldest brother, David, and youngest sister, Maureen (Reenie). John enjoyed good health for most of his life and was active in his career as a science professor and in many other endeavors. John frequently held leadership positions for the organizations and communities in which he was a member. He was a respected mentor for many young people and assisted them in countless ways as they furthered their education and careers. On September 28, 2002 John was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. He and Lynn served as a deacon couple at St. Rose of Lima in Roseville, St. Anthony of Padua in Minneapolis, St. Odilia in Shoreview, and St. Lawrence in Minneapolis. They served in AIDS Ministry and devoted themselves to faith formation and care of the elderly and people in need as well as in traditional diaconal ministries in the parishes they served. John loved being able to serve Christ and the Church with Lynn through the diaconate.

John was a loving, caring, generous, kind, intelligent and good man who left every person he encountered better for having known him. He was devoted to Lynn, his family, his faith and his many friends. We are thankful for having been blessed to know and love him. Visitation will be on Monday, January 6th from 4pm to 8pm at Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 North Hamline Avenue, Roseville, MN 55113 with a prayer service at 7p.m. and from 10a.m. to 11a.m. on Tuesday, January 7th at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 3495 Victoria Street North, Shoreview, MN 55126.
