William A. Sheahan

U.S. Veteran

William A. Sheahan, age85 went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2013 after a short battle with lung cancer. William was born February 11, 1928 in Gross Pointe, Michigan to the late James A. & Helen T. Sheahan. He was a 1947 graduate from Washington Irving High School, Tarrytown, New York. He served honorably from 1948 to 1952 in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Agnes Johns in January 1957 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. His beloved wife of 51 years preceded him in death on December 2, 2008. William retired from Ford Motor Company in 1993 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed family, his grandchildren and reading, especially WWII history and Tom Clancey novels. He was a member of the American Legion Garden City Post 396. William is survived by his dear children, Delia (Ron) Gipson, Kelly (Dave) Hill, William J. Sheahan, Erin M. Sheahan, C.W.4 Stephen (Lori) Sheahan and Jamie (Aaron) McHaney; devoted grandfather of Kelly, Spencer, Emily, Eric, Melissa, Connor, Daniel, Bradley (Kayla & Landon), Brittney, Dylan, Zachary, Matthew, Hannah, Garrett and Gillian; and a brother; John Sheahan. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 in Our Lady on the River Parish, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City. Visitation Saturday 2-8 p.m. at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 N. Inkster Rd., Garden City(between Ford Rd. and Cherry Hill) and Sunday, December 5th from 3-7 p.m. at the Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City and at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Marine City. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans. Pallbearers will be William J. and Stephen M. Sheahan, Ron and Spencer Gipson, David and Eric Hill, Aaron McHaney, Kevin, Connor, Daniel and Bradley Sheahan, and Dylan Eden. His grandson, Garrett McHaney will be an Altar Server during Mass. Memorials may be directed to the D.A.V.
