Ralph L. Kimmy, 84, formerly of Picidilli Hill, Corry, Pa., died on Monday, December 30, 2013, at UPMC-Hamot, Erie, Pa. He was born on September 21, 1929, in Corry, Pa., a son of the late Delford Kimmy and Eva Klasch Kimmy Vanderhoof. Ralph was raised and educated in Corry and attended Corry area schools. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Philippine Sea, during the Korean War. He belonged to the OAR Special Radio Division. When he returned to Corry, Ralph worked several jobs in Corry and in Cincinnati, Oh. In the mid 1950's, he started working for Corry Jamestown where he worked various jobs including inspector. Ralph retired in 1991 when the shop closed. He attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Corry. Ralph was a member of the Erie County Search and Rescue and was a bloodhound trainer. He was also with the Corry Civil Air Defense and was a cub master in the 1960's. He enjoyed raising, training and showing horses. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Vanderhoof. Ralph is survived by his wife, Susan M. Windahl Kimmy, whom he married on May 2, 1970 in Columbus, Pa.; two sons, Robert Kimmy and his wife Britt and Richard Kimmy and his wife Barbara, all of Corry, Pa.; and two sisters, Dorothy Rodregues of Winston Salem, N. C., and Alice McCray and her husband Willard of Corry, Pa. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeremy and Kimberly Kimmy, Brandon Bedow, Samarra Kimmy and Lori Peru and her husband Kevin; two great-grandchildren, Damon and Kassidy Peru and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Theresa Muehl. Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held there on Saturday at 12 noon.
