Raymond Hanford Searles Jr., age 82, died December 28, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born April 20, 1931 in Murray, Utah to Raymond Hanford and Elva Mae Clawson Searles. Raymond married Chloe Lavon Simpson on December 25, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Raymond served for the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After that he worked as a glass manufacturer for over 20 years. He was an avid Utah Utes fan. While in retirement, Raymond enjoyed cooking, traveling with his wife and friends Carol and Jesse Nelson and spending time with his family. He never missed one of his grandkids sporting events.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Chloe of 64 years; children Ken and Gwen Searles; Ray and Tina Searles; Kory Searles; Jolene and Scott Draper; Michelle and Kris Moyes; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenny Barker of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kory Von Searles Jr; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00am at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to the services.
